Michael and Gena Long

I want to share my brother and sister-in-law's story with you all.  If you know Michael and or Gena, you know that they are very kind and humble.  What you may not know are the struggles they are going through right now.  I'll give you a little background:

In August 2013, Michael was diagnosed with AVN (Avascular Necrosis) of his hips. He was told he'd need both hips replaced in 3 to 5 years. He had cortisone shots twice, with no relief, had left total hip replacement in Nov 2013.  He has had physical therapy and has been recovering well, but now we fear he's in need of getting the right hip done as soon as possible. Once physical therapy and doctors released him at the end of May 2014, he went to return to work, only to realize he had no job to return to.  His place of employment told him they did not have a job for him anymore.   He signed up for Social Security Disability, however there is a 3 year waiting plan. He was told he cannot get unemployment because he signed up for Social Security Disability, and he cannot try to get a job or it will cancel out Social Security Disability.  He signed up for government-assisted food stamps and gets $78.00 a month!  They are still waiting on medicaid, and currently he has NO income coming in and has NO insurance.  He tried to sign up for coverage through ObamaCare, but the monthly cost was well over $500 which they cannot afford.

Also, their daughter, Morgan, was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in 2013.  Since Michael lost his insurance, so did Morgan.  She also is struggling physically and financially.

Now, the icing on the cake.  Recently,  Gena was seen for blurry vision with which she's intermittently suffered since August 2013.  She went to see her doctor in Sept and was told it was "stress".  In Nov, she was told she had the flu, and in Jan she went to see her eye doctor but was told she had no vision changes.
In March, she started having nose bleeds and bleeding from her ears.  She was told it was a sinus infection and was given antibiotics.  During the month of July, she developed  double vision and headaches that required icepacks. Her doctor said it was "allergies" and to "try singular and nasal spray."  After this regimen provided no relief, she made an appointment with an ophthalmologist at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center on July 29. She was told her eyes were "not moving and protruding out" and was sent for a MRI on July 31. Her ophthalmologist called Gena the following morning from her cell phone on her way out of the country to let her know she has a brain tumor, and she has made appointments for her to see a neurosurgeon and an ENT.   She also had CAT scan to find a spot to perform a biopsy.  She saw the neurosurgeon on Aug 14 and was told the tumor is inoperable.  She is now scheduled for a biopsy on Aug 18 when we will learn more about what kind of tumor it is and what options she has.

Please, pray for our family and know that ANYTHING you can give will be greatly appreciated.
