Emergency Rent and Medical
My name is Morgan. I'm a 36yr old divorced woman, graduated from FSU with my BA this past August, and have been a very outspoken community activist supporting marginalized and minority communities such as PoC, LGBTQIA+, Muslims, and other oppressed groups for years. Up until December 16th I'd been continuing my work in activism in my first professional position post graduation as the Leon County head campaign organizer for a Florida non profit organization. My position was responsible for running the org's operations in Tallahassee which included participation in the Second Chances voter rights restoration campaign, and voter registration as well as education and social justice awareness for marginalized and minority communities. Though I have been actively seeking new employment since my contract expired on the 16th (which I was not informed would occur until just over a week before it did, despite originally being contracted through the 30th), and continue to actively do so, I have yet to accomplish this. Complicating everything is that I'm also a sufferer of the chronic incurable illness Fibromyalgia, and have just been referred for treatment due to highly suspected PTSD and other developed disorders which had previously been ignored/undetected. Despite having insurance, the extra labs and diagnostic tests performed in the past several months (which the insurance didn't completely cover) piled up. In order for not only essential treatment to continue, but for me to be able to renew my insurance policy by the deadline, all bills had to be paid off immediately. I can't go without insurance, and I certainly can't go without my treatments, so all of the extra money I'd earned in my last position of employment went to paying the lion's share of the outstanding medical bills. I have seriously been left with nothing. Which brings me to my immediate crisis. My rent was due on the 1st, and I have nothing to pay it with. I'd been trying to come up with the funds for over a week on my own, but given the holidays, this has proven futile, and I'm now in a dire position. Facing an eviction with my cats at this point in time would be absolutely devastating, and I'm desperate. I have until 5pm on the 3rd to submit the rent payment, after that the fees will accumulate each day ($50 a day) until the 5th when eviction will result. My rent (without late fees) is $650. I'm also needing to pay the last medical bill for the year which was billed after I renewed my policy, but before the 25th, which is $170. The rest of what I'm asking for would go toward keeping my cats and myself fed temporarily. I have other bills, but they are not absolutely essential right now. I can live without cable and internet at home, but not without a roof over my head or medical treatments. I would be thankful for, and greatly appreciate any help given, as well as any recommendations for any jobs in the human rights and social justice fields in Tallahassee, and prayers. Thank you.
