The McElwain Family

Donation protected
Jeff McElwain was the beloved father of five children.  He was married to his wife, Lucy, for 33 years.  His passion for life and for others was contagious.  He was the person you could call in any time of need and he would be there.  He would give a stranger the shirt off of his back.  Jeff was an alumni of Cloverleaf Schools.  He became a bus driver for Highland School District and was very passionate about his students.  His love for Harley Davidson, trucks, and traveling will be carried on throughout his children.

On Wednesday, October 10, Jeff was on his way home from his weekly date night with his wife Lucy when a drunk driver t-boned him in the intersection of 224 and Friendsville Road.  Jeff was killed on impact.  This selfish act is a very hard pill for the family to swallow.  The main thing getting them through this is knowing that their father died a very happy man and did not have to suffer.

Jeff leaves behind his five children and his wife.  His sons are trying to fill the void with income and his daughter is trying to pursue her degree at Ashland University.  This family could use all the support possible at this time.  Lucy should be able to feel comfortable taking some time off of work to heal and grieve.  Brad and Harley should not have to work constant over time in order to support the family, they need time to grieve as well. Haley should be able to pursue her degree without having to worry about financial burdens.  No family should have to sacrifice all of their savings to pay for a funeral because of someone's selfish decision.  This family has to live with that choice for the rest of their lives.  They are the most genuine family and they need the community to come together in any way they can.  If you are able to donate, it would be appreciated more than you know.  If you are not able to donate, please think of donating to Jeff's favorite charity, St. Jude's Hospital at some point in the future. Please think twice before you get behind the wheel after drinking and please pray for this amazing family.  Thank you.
