The 5-Year Plan: Sokode Ando JHS
Goals: By 2026 Pillars of Change will renovate Sokode Ando JHS entire school campus.
Description: We are slowly cultivating a modern school environment for every student to feel comfortable. We want the students to have more than enough as it pertains to resources, school supplies, equipment, and technology.
First: JHS Library. We want to create a space where students can grab books to read on their spare time and even for assignments by their teachers. The school library should provide a safe haven for all students to think, create, share, and grow.
1. Building a bookshelf so the students can take and return books in order for the other students to enjoy them as well
2. Collecting books through donations, local bookstores, and libraries
Date of completion: Friday, January 3, 2020
Second: JHS Technology Hub. We want to move forward in an era where technology will change the education industry in Ghana. Knowledge should be easily accessible at the push of a button, and students should be able to flock to eLearning platforms at all levels.
1. Creating a room primarily focused on eLearning
2. Installing computers and programs onto the desktops
Date of Completion: December 2021 – January 2022
Third: Renovations of JHS Bathrooms. Pillars of Change went to Ghana in 2017 and cultivated a project called the “Crowned Gems project” where we focused primarily on menstrual hygiene/health. Our team noticed that we cannot go and speak on menstrual hygiene when there is no clean and equipped place for the students to use the restrooms. Our goal is to build a workable, useable, and clean bathroom for the students to use.
1. Installing toilets, sinks, and mirrors
a. Focused on fixing the plumbing issues in the school
2. Imputing 3 - 5 stalls per bathroom
a. Separate bathrooms for boys and girls
Date of completion: December 2023 – January 2024
Lastly: Renovation of JHS. The entire school building will be constructed and painted over to provide a comfortable learning environment for the students.
