Harvey Flood Recovery

Donation protected

We finished restoring our home last week after the 2015 Memorial Day, only to lose everything again to Hurricane Harvey.

This time, we prepared with 2ft of sandbags and plastic, but it couldn't withstand the 4ft of flood water that filled our house.  We evacuated and walked over 10 miles through the flood with our dog before finding shelter.

Watch my vid to see what it was like for us and many others...

I try my best to deal with things myself, and we didn't ask for help after the last flood, but this time it is just too much.

The water took the house, all of our belongings, clothes, furniture, books, electronics, and documents.

My wife just left her job as a teacher to focus full-time on our new non-profit education outreach programs for kids of military families and disadvantaged communities, so we now have only one income.

Insurance will not cover any of our personal property and will only pay a fraction of the cost of rebuilding the house.  Since our house has flooded twice, the City of Houston ordinance may not allow us to rebuild, so we will be forced to sell for less than half of what we owe, or tear it down and build a new house.

Either way, we simply don't have the money to rent a temporary place while still paying the mortgage on a condemned house and trying to replace everything we lost.

We are scheduled to launch several new programs next month to provide free STEM education for at-risk kids, as well as additional free programs for rape-prevention and anti-bullying.  Please feel free to check out some of our outreach and education programs @ http://www.kinoeyecenter.com

Any assistance you are able to provide will not only help us to get our lives back and recover from the flood, but also allow us to focus on our non-profit efforts in the Houston community.

Again, I am sorry to ask for help, and I recognize that we are better off than many others who have been injured or lost loved ones.  All I can say is I will work tirelessly to pay forward your generosity!
