As a nonprofit organization operating under FEMA guidelines and reporting to the Stallion Springs Chief of Police, Stallion Springs CERT is comprised of approximately 35 active and trained disaster workers who provide support to the police department, other public safety organizations, and most importantly, our community.
SSCERT is the first responder before the first responders can arrive. We are there in the night when the power has been off for three days and people need a place to find comfort, charge their oxygen machines or cell phones. Stallion Springs is a very small community but has a huge community spirit and CERT is there to direct traffic when the local school has their fun run and when the local charities need traffic control and support. We also branch out to other communities in providing support:
• Teach emergency preparedness
• Help our families and neighbors in times of need
• Assist the Police Department in a non- law enforcement capacity
• Assist other professional emergency responders
• Support community events
SSCERT is one of the more respected organizations of its kind and recently the Stallion Springs Community Serviced District stepped up and paid for the construction of a new steel building where we house all of our emergency equipment and supplies, not the least of which is our Mobile Command Post which is a completely renovated travel trailer. The Command Post is emergency central in the event of a fire or other natural disaster linking our community to Police, Fire, and other emergency services agencies.
We now have a beautiful building that needs everything else: electrical, framing, lighting, ramps, racks and even more. The estimated cost of these "improvements" is more than we have. So we are turning to the GoFundMe community for help.
Your tax deductible contributions will go a long way toward helping us fulfill the vision that was started years ago. We're near the finish line and just need that little push to get us there.
