Central Avenue Albany Small Business Support Fund

We are asking for your financial support for the Small Businesses along Central Avenue in Albany recently damaged by the unrest on our community. 

The Central District Management Association (More Commonly as the Central Avenue BID or CBID) has partnered with the Carl E. Touhey Foundation to restore this diverse neighborhood of businesses.    

We are grateful for their support of the Carl E. Touhey Foundation to our minority and women's business fund and wish to expand the efforts they have helped us begin. 

The Central Avenue BID (The Central District Management Association) is a 501 (c)3 not for profit corporation established in 1998 to improve the Central Avenue Corridor.  The Street had over 100 Vacant storefronts at that time and has worked for years to build it into an international destination of Food and cultural and 

Our Fund Drive Goals:

Design/Repair/Deposits and Materials assistance to replace facades. (glass,frames etc)
Signage repair and replacement Costs (Including temporary ‘WE ARE OPEN’ banners) and other marketing materials.
Insurance deductible recapture assistance
Emergency Repair assistance, and new sudden need for materials to secure a business
Certified Insurance adjuster advocate-On behalf of the businesses: hire as needed to assist with getting the best insurance claims repayment and property payments.
Assistance with fees associated with facade repairs/design approvals
Interior security gates replaced or purchased
Security equipment and replacement (alarms, cameras, etc)
New Inventory as possible  

Re-Start Fund

Not only will these funds help our businesses, but they will also be used in a way to protect the community as well through better PPE.

Much needed PPE/Sanitizers etc - Hair Salons and restaurants and others need help to pay for the ongoing cost of the maintenance of safety equipment for employees and customers. Masks, shields, handheld quick read thermometers, plexiglass, and sanitizer stations. 

We have learned that many of our businesses were not geared up for the tech needed to weather the COVID outbreak with the use of :

Gift Card Systems (No way to sell gift cards or do online transactions during the pandemic or ‘No Touch’ transactions)

Any donation will help make an impact for these small businesses.

More information about the Central District Management Association (CBID): To promote the preservation and development of the Central Avenue business corridor of the capital city of Albany and to organize in order to do all things necessary and proper to make said area more attractive and accessible. To this end the business improvement district will work to enhance the public perception of the Central Avenue business corridor through overseeing and managing the appearance, security, and cleanliness of the business improvement district area.
