Center renovations

UPDATE:

We have completed the first phase of our flooring and ventilation upgrades (photos are in the status updates).  We are now working on our second phase, which includes reflooring our upstairs fencing and fitness area.  This is a much smaller area but essential in order for us to spread out while training.  Please take a moment to help out with this phase of the project.  The phase two flooring costs are $3,000.  Our phase one renovations came in exactly on budget at $6,000 and are in use by our appreciative students!


The South Coast Fencing Center (non-profit organization Real Fencing, Inc. EIN 33-0988669 501(c)4 corporation) was founded in 1999 to serve the greater Orange County area in the modern Olympic sport of fencing.  Our volunteer Board of Directors have served the Center for over 20 years, dedicated to establishing quality programs open to all students and levels.  Our center has been a gateway to thousands of students who have had the opportunity to experience this fantastic sport; many who have continued to national, international and even coaching roles in our sport.

We are raising funds to replace the flooring in our front lobby and study areas of the Center.  Our current carpet needs to be replaced, walls repainted and furniture updated.  We have already started on repainting the center but need help with refurnishing our student areas.  Although we, like many small businesses, have been hit very hard by the challenges created by Covid, it has been an opportunity to rethink how group and private training can be managed as well as take this time to improve our facilities wherever possible.  For example, we are moving away from carpeting to a composite material that is stain resistant and easy to clean. 

As we begin to welcome our students back into our programs in a safe and methodical way, we would like to provide them an updated  training environment.  We would like to complete these renovations in June and be ready to reintroduce more of our group programs in the coming weeks with fresh flooring that is easy to sanitize.
