In 2019 the Herjavec Group, in coordination with Cybersecurity Ventures, published a study titled 2019 Official Annual Cybercrime Report. In this study, these groups reported that by 2021, cybercrime will cost six trillion dollars annually across the world. Cybercrime is any “criminal activities carried out by means of computers or the Internet.” This means computer, network, and internet forensics as a whole. This has been a topic of discussion daily, including cyber breaches including Equifax, and Marriott Hotels that have cost billions of people their identity and livelihood.

These costs, effect everyone in the world! In 2017, CNBC reported that an average person loses almost $1,000 to $10,000 from cybercrime just that year. That is $1,000 to $10,000 of your hard earned money, spent on inflation from business attacks, identity theft protection technology, or spending more on taxes because the town you live in was attacked by ransomware.

The Center for International Cyber Intelligence or CI2 is raising money to benefit the new physical building project, which will be a part of the educational and anti-cybercrime missions of the organization.

The project scope entails leasing, or purchasing land and/or building, equipment, and hiring personnel. This will involve a full budget for three years, and operations costs for possibly five.

In order to successfully achieve the most fruition, the CI2 Facility will need an investment of a few million dollars. This will be a full three to five years and beyond, fully funded project, that will launch the organization into the next phase of its mission, as well as conduct proactive work, to reduce cybercrime and increase effective cybersecurity and cyber assets of the future.
