<div>A devastating tornado struck the Fountain Park Neighborhood causing widespread damage across the area, including significant destruction to Centennial Christian Church (DOC) a cornerstone of the local faith community for over 121 years.
</div>
<div>The storm, which tore through the region Friday afternoon, took the life of beloved sister and church moderator Patricia Penelton. DeMarco Davidson (Executive Director of Metropolitan Congregations United and Sherrill Jackson (leader) were pulled from the rubble of the church as they met to discuss church community engagement plans.

<div>The tornado left the church building with major structural damage, rendering it unusable for worship services, community events, and outreach programs. “Our church has always been a place of refuge, prayer, and service to the community,” said Rev. Dr. Dietra Wise Baker, Associate Minister. “We are heartbroken by the damage but grateful for the outpouring of love and support from the community,” Zelois Powell church administrator.

<div>In response, the church has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with church efforts and to continue supporting members of the church and community who have also been impacted by the storm. At least 10% of the funds raised will go to the Fountain Park relief efforts.

<div>Funds raised will go directly toward repairing and restoring vital ministries that serve our church and the Fountain Park Neighborhood. Examples include but are not limited to Lighthouse Lunches, Food Pantry, Health Ministries, God's Cafe, and Mini-grants for Community Recovery Efforts (Tarps, Wood boards and Screws for board ups, flash lights, batteries, portable chargers, yard tools, etc.).
