THRIVE: Celianie's Orphanage

THRIVE: Célianie's Oprhanage
 - When the Haitian government cut off their their funding, Célianie refused to give up hope and continued taking in children. Now the orphanage is facing eviction, and they need our help.

Tina and Caitlyn Thibodeaux took their first trip to Haiti in 2012. They were amazed by the culture, the people, and the overwhelming presence of happiness amidst the ruins of a famous earthquake that took so much from them. They focused on helping children (especially orphans), spreading God's love, and providing medical care, among other things.  In 2013, the Thibodeaux girls met Célianie Valmond, the woman responsible for 90 children, the woman who trusts that God will protect her orphanage... the woman with a heart of gold.

Célianie has an inspirational story. In 1985 during a close brush with death during childbirth, she made a request to God to spare her life and that of her infant son and, in turn, she would devote her time to help others less fortunate, especially children. God protected her, and she certainly kept her end of the deal. In 1988, Célianie started the orphanage, Maison d'Enfants par la Foi (MEF) (House of Children by Faith) with 32 orphans.

The orphanage grew rapidly as some outside organizations offered support. Today, Célianie is in charge of teaching and taking care of 90 children, with three of them suffering from serious disabilities.  She has faced many challenges and obstacles, but Célianie refuses to let anything stand in her way.

Unfortunately, MEF has encountered a crisis. Since May 2014, the Haitian government has stopped providing any funds to the orphanage without any reasoning or notice, a complete injustice that too often occurs in Haiti. Because of this, Célianie can only feed the kids twice a day, and now, the orphanage is facing eviction. If something isn't done, she and her 90 children will be out on the street. Célianie has tried her hardest to keep up by funding the orphanage  with every last dime she has. Although she hasn't even come close, every single employee she has still shows up for work every day, despite the lack of pay,  because they care about the kids.

The monthly costs to run MEF are as follows:

Employee Wages - $2,500
           - $125/ month per employee for 20 employees

Rent - $300

+ the cost to feed, house and clothe 90 kids

TOTAL: More than $3,000 per month

That means the Haitian government owes Célianie well over $30,000.

She'll never see a penny of that.

With your help, Caitlyn and Tina can hand deliver money to Célianie and her staff this April, a much needed band-aid to a huge problem, but it can help them get the orphanage back on its' feet until the government (hopefully) starts funding MEF again.

Please donate today, so Célianie and her kids have the best chance possible.
