Celestin Kabasele: Bone Marrow Transplant
Throughout his life, Celestin has suffered from Sickle Cell disease. Celestin has worked hard to come to the United States, is a legal citizen, and is a supporting member of our community.
Thanks to his sister, on June 15th, 2022 Celestin started the complicated process of bone marrow transplant to battle his Sickel Cell disease. Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) is currently the only known cure for sickle cell disease. It involves replacing the abnormal stem cells residing in bone marrow with healthy cells from an eligible brother or sister. This procedure is also sometimes called a stem cell transplant.
Celestin is doing great and responding well. Even though Celestin worked 2 jobs in preparation for this event, there are remaining bills. We’d like to help ensure that financial needs don’t cause additional stress during his recovery. Celestin is in treatment in Minneapolis at the Shriners Hospital. For four months during the treatment, Celestin and his mother will be living near the hospital. In addition to medical bills, costs involve living expenses in Minnesota, and maintaining rent for his existing home in Sioux Falls.
Once he returns home he wants to attend school to become a mechanic, fire fighter or IT professional. Previously his illness made this dream impossible.
We cherish your prayers. If you can help financially, your gift is also greatly appreciated.

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
