Hi, my name is Maretha and I am a composer, musician and member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church. Our lovely community is highly supportive of music, with no less than 3 composers in the congregation, and a small but dedicated choir.
As part of our effort to make St. Anne's a true centre for community, worship, and a space in which all are welcome, we are supporting a local composer, Benjamin Belew Sakagch Akeala, who is writing a cantata "Celestial Prophecy," with chanting, idée fixes, vocal and instrumental solos all interwoven into creating a new type of sacred service. The evening will start with carol singing, followed by the cantata, in which our rector the Rev. Jeff Dodge will be participating and singing the Eucharistic Prayer. This unique event serves as a wonderful reintroduction to an in-person Christmas Eve service after the pandemic. Please join our community in not only being part of something hopeful, joyous, and super special, but also in receiving the gift of music as a blessing in a time of great challenge.
Any funds we receive will go towards the following:
- Supporting Benjamin Belew, an incredibly talented individual who is trying to make his name--and a living--by sharing his unique gifts with all.
- Supporting St Annes Episcopal Church, who is also struggling to make ends meet after the pandemic.
- Supporting local musicians. If we raise enough funds, we would LOVE to pay all the fantastic musicians who are kindly donating their time and talents to support us.
