6 Week Writers Workshop in Seattle
Donation protected
Dear friends and fellow word twirlers,
I, once again, have the opportunity to study Speculative/Sci-Fi/Fantasy writing as a Clarion West student for six weeks this summer in Seattle. I didn't attend last year due to a family emergency but all is well now.
During the past year I participated in Sheree Renee Thomas' Black Speculative Arts Movement (BSAM) in Memphis (in costume and I even memorized one of the stories). I was invited back to read at Clairsea Clay's 2nd Annual Blerd City Con here in New York. My short story "Not Just Ivy" was published in The Outcast Hours and my novelette "De MotherJumpers", complete with podcast read by me, was published in Strange Horizons and made the 2018 Locus Recommended Reading List.
I learned about Clarion over twenty years ago but couldn’t afford to go. I still can’t, because in addition to the expenses, as a freelance bookkeeper I will be forfeiting six weeks of income. This is a wonderful opportunity for me and I hope you’ll help to make it possible. In return, I hope to produce stories that will make you both proud and happy.
Thank you.
