Celebration of Melva Guerra's Life

It is with joy, not sorrow, that we the children of Melva Guerra are having this memorial event and are calling the service "A Celebration of Melva Guerra’s Life".

Melva was recently diagnosed with a rare yet very aggressive form of cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma, bile duct cancer. This cancer was so aggressive that the day of diagnosis to the day of her death was a mere 31 days, like the blink of an eye. We are left in shock and unfortunately ill prepared.

Mom serviced her community as an Insurance Agent and bought a decent life insurance policy in June of this year. Unfortunately, no funeral home will complete an insurance assignment (a loan) on an insurance policy less than 2 years old. We are not going to let that stop us from celebrating in a manner and style that mom would want and in which she deserves. We have set up this Go Fund Me for the funeral services for our mom.

St. Paul’s United Methodist Church has lightened our load by hosting the wake, visitation, service and repass. The members of the church love mom and have appreciated her being a lively member of Sunday School, The Vision and Arts Ministry, and also a Tuesday Night Jazz Greeter.

Mom may have made you laugh, shared a smile, or maybe you enjoyed memorable times together.  Mom touched so many and made a lasting impression. Many have asked how to contribute to the Celebration of Melva Guerra’s Life and this is the perfect way.
