Celebration of Life for Felix J. Kehano, Jr.

Donation protected
Felix John Kehano, Jr. was born in the morning of March 22, 2005 in Wailuku, Maui. Felix’s arrival brought a completeness and joy to a family that he shared with his older sister, Kapua. The care and compassion that Kapua felt for Felix from the time of his birth and throughout his life, has significantly impacted her life and led her to realizing her calling of caring for others in her professional and private life.

He spent the first seven years of his life on the island of Maui doing the things he loved to do. Felix loved spending time with his family, playing soccer, camping, going to baseball tournaments, playing in the water at Tavares Bay, going behind the mountain to Kanaio, Kahikinui, and just holoholo. Felix and his family were heavily plugged into Puka Naz’s (Pukalani Community Church of the Nazarene) Wednesday night keiki ministry, Sunday morning worship services, and Sunday Night’s Young Adult ministry.

In 2013, Felix and his family relocated from Maui to the island of Molokai. Immediately, he stood out as a newcomer, unknowingly connecting people through his impact on the community. The same year, Felix was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) which is a disorder of progressive muscular weakness. Shortly after, Felix needed to use a wheelchair in order to get around. Even though Felix’s condition caused him to stand out, physically, it was always his happy-go-lucky personality and his whole-body smile that caused him to stand out, spiritually.

Felix and his family spent the last seven years of his life on the island of Molokai. He was on the Kualapuʻu Robotics team, enjoyed doing arts and crafts with Molokai Art Center, working on the homestead, gaming, creating on YouTube (dmdgamer_youtuber), and hanging out in his Kualapuʻu neighborhood, playing Fortnite (maui_hammah), and attending the muscular dystrophy camp on Oʻahu. Felix and his family plugged into the new Molokai Nazarene church when it opened, becoming a huge part of Sunday Night service and the youth group.

On Saturday, June 27, 2020, Felix went to be with the Lord after his journey with Duchanne Muscular Dystrophy. From the moment he entered the world, he has impacted those around him. Both, the communities of Maui and Molokai, are mourning the loss of Felix, leaving both communities to celebrate his life and honor the vibrant spirit and bright smile that we’ve been so accustomed to seeing daily. The family is holding a Celebration of Life service on Molokai on Saturday, August 1, 2020 and another service on Maui on Saturday, August 8, 2020. All funds collected will go toward service costs, travel for the immediate family between the islands of impact, and any other costs that arise due to the sudden passing of Felix. We are grateful for any and all donations made for Felix’s ʻohana during this time and appreciate “shares” to help spread the world of our communities’ immense loss and Heaven’s welcoming of Felix John Kehano, Jr. God bless, and peace be with you.
