Celebration of Life - Edward 'Eddie' Manderville

Donation protected

Dear Minnesotans, Golfers everywhere, and Friends and Family of the Manderville's,

Our community lost a dear fried on November 19, 2020 with the passing of Edward "Eddie" Manderville.  Fast Eddie, on one his many nicknames, was 88 years old. Eddie was a beloved Minnesota community leader who will be remembered for his dedication, infectious laugh, love for life, and his passion for the game of golf.

On Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, a Celebration of Life remembrance will be held at Eddie's favorite golf course - Theodore Wirth Golf Club located at 1301 Theodore Wirth Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55422.   In his honor and with your support, an annual scholarship fund  - The Eddie Manderville Scholarship Fund - will be established.  Each year, one youth golfer from the community will be awarded $1,000.  All donations will be provided directly to The Fairway Foundation, an organization Eddie co-founded. The Foundation will manage the fund established by your donations. You can learn more about the Foundation by visiting => The Fairway Foundation

Eddie shattered the color barrier in Minnesota. Over the past 50 years, he competed in nearly every Minnesota Golf Association's golf championships including the US Senior Open and Senior Amateur tournaments.

Eddie taught golf at Anwatin Middle School in Minneapolis. He mentored and instructed hundreds of youth and adult golfer across the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota.  He was a volunteer with the Minnesota Golf Association since 1990 including working as a rules official. He was also a founding member of the Fairway Foundation providing youth in the Twin Cities structured programs focused on balancing education & recreation, providing cultural enrichment, and life skills by instilling the values inherent in the game of golf.

Eddie was also one heck of a golfer.

Eddie sunk a bunch of holes-in-one: Thirteen holes in one to be exact with two hole's in one that he hit back-to-back during a round of golf at Theodore Wirth Golf Club on August 9, 2013.

Back to back holes in one!  In case you're wondering, the odds of making a hole in one in your lifetime is approximately 12,000 to 1. For professional Tour players, the odds drop down to 3,000 to 1. When you throw in making two holes in one during the same round of golf, the odds skyrocket up to 67 million to 1.  Making two consecutive holes in one during the same round of golf has never been calculated.

All of the donations raised will be used to establish the The Eddie Manderville Scholarship Fund as well as an annual awards ceremony.  The first Celebration of Life remembrance will take place on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Eddie's favorite golf course Theodore Wirth Golf Club located at 1301 Theodore Wirth Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55422.

Thank you for your support. Please feel free to share your stories of Eddie in the comments section below.
