The IOD Family lost our beloved, Mel Pearce earlier this year. Mel raced IODs in the SF Bay for more than 50 years and is pictured below onboard #86 with the boys last Father's Day. Never shrinking in the face of conditions or competition, Mel was ever-ready with his warm smile and ample provisions.
To honor Mel's memory, the SF Bay IOD Fleet is making a donation to the Regatta Center project at the SFYC. The Regatta Center will host sailing memories for decades to come and we can't think of a more fitting tribute to Mel's love of family, friends and sailboat racing.
The Fleet has approved a donation of $1000, but the bigger the donation we can make, the bigger the plaque that will hang in the center.
Please help us honor Mel's legacy and build a hearth for racers from near and far. Danielle Lawson is solely responsible for the withdrawal and delivery or use of funds from this campaign.
