Celebrating 25 Years of Service to At-Risk Youth!

Greetings! I am raising money for the LoveLife Foundation and am asking you to join me in my effort. All contributions are tax-deductible. :)

This year, The LoveLife Foundation commemorates 25 years of service to at-risk youth who live at or below the poverty line in Oakland and the Bay Area. The overall goal is to raise $50,000 by September 30th, 2022. The money raised during our fundraising campaign will go to awarding college scholarships to 10 students who have achieved academic excellence, and towards celebratory events in the community during our annual LoveLife Week. Additionally, funds raised will go towards providing youth services in 2023. You can make a difference by donating today to LoveLife Foundation.

The 25th Anniversary Celebration will take place during the week of November 7th - November 13th. The week will feature several community events, including a week of random acts of kindness, an essay contest for students, a concert with top entertainers, a city-wide prayer service, a Town Hall meeting that will include youth leaders, a gala to celebrate and recognize people who are making a difference in our community, college scholarship awards, and a moment of silence for all victims of violence.

ABOUT US

The LoveLife Foundation was founded for LoEshe' Lacy who was murdered on October 20, 1997, an innocent victim of a shooting across the street from her high school. Since then, the LoveLife Foundation has worked with hundreds of at-risk youth in Oakland and the San Francisco Bay Area. The LoveLife Arts and Media Training Academy (LAMTA) has trained youth ages 6 - 21 in radio, television, and theater to produce programs and performances that speak out against violence and affirm life.

The work of The LoveLife Foundation was proclaimed from the floor of Congress by Congresswoman Barbara Lee in 2000. Former Mayor Elihu Harris credited the work of the LoveLife Foundation for contributing significantly to a 25-year low in the murder rate in Oakland in 1998. The LoveLife Foundation has received several prestigious awards, including: The American Red Cross, The National Council on Crime and Delinquency, The Take Wings Foundation, Certificate of Congressional Recognition, and the Avanti Foundation, to name a few.

In addition to working with youth, the LoveLife Foundation has engaged tens of thousands of adults to attend peace marches, vigils, town hall meetings, live remote radio broadcasts, and theatrical performances. On April 5, 2016, the Oakland City Council, by a 5-3 vote, adopted the words "Love Life" as the official motto of the City of Oakland. The words "Love Life" are on all "Entering Oakland" signs as a way to honor LoEshe and all victims of violence. In addition, the signs serve as a visual reminder to everyone to Love Life, Don't Take Life, and stop the senseless violence.
