Hi everyone. My name is Michael. You can see me on one of the pics posted on here. I am with my big brother Stacy. He is wearing the bandana. Well, its with a broken heart that I write this. Our wonderful brother passed away Thursday August 14th and we are devastated as a family. He was the glue that held us together and it all happened so fast. Stace was diagnosed with terminal cancer just about 3 months ago. At the time we were preparing to celebrate his one year of sobriety when he got the news and it hit him very very quickly and it has been an emotional rollercoaster ever since. We were there for him every step of the way and I have to tell you I have never seen such courage and the will to not give up. I swear it was like a movie. Stace would just not give in. To his very last breathe he was comforting others and worried about others before himself. He was always like that and he just would not let cancer break his spirit. Of course there were alot of tears and his days were filled with excruciating pain. I thank God for the Hospice team. They were excellent but it was me, mom, and his devoted girlfriend Kerri that stayed by his side every step of the way. It was so hard to see him suffering like that but he never gave up and never complained. He had his questions and concerns about his life but his major concern was about his family that he was leaving behind and vowed to me that he would be watching over us. I know him. He will be doing just exactly that. So, mom is on a very very limited income as an Elder and I have been on unpaid leave from my job because I had just started it, and though I dont have any regrets whatsoever, our resources, what little we had, have been drained. His GF Kerri, God Bless her, is working only part-time. Stace never asked for much. He was happy with a safe roof over his head and for his own part-time job at the Goodwil which he absolutely loved. He was technically disabled but he had a will to live that I have never ever seen before. My gosh. We remember him being so proud of his job. One day he told me that whomever used the restrooms at the Goodwill would be using the cleanest ones in the city. He took such pride in what he did and his goal was to become a permanent employee there. He told me that he loved that job. He was so sad when we were leaving there for the last time tha i could just cry remembering it. We miss him so much. Well, I dont want to get too wordy here but Stacy was always giving out money to people who lived on the streets. Even though he didnt have much he appreciated what he had and he worked his butt off to get what most of us take for granted every day. He is now off to the spirit world and his service is Saturday August 23rd. His wishes were to have his ashes spread over several different places that lay close to our family`s hearts and to his. Donations will be to help us relieve the cost of everything including the spreading of his ashes. Whatever you can afford. We just are grateful for the community that we love and that loved our beautiful Stacy. If you have any question please feel free to look me up on FB at Michael Patrick OConnor or text me at [phone redacted]. God bless and RIP Stace. We love you so so much. The Spirit world is getting the best and most kind and gentle spirutal warrior. We cannot say enough how grateful we are to love him so much and to live like he lived. Myself, I have decided that when all the dust has settled that I will go in to the hospitals and/or volunteer with hospice to pray in our native american ways with people who are Indigenous/Native American or believe in our ways as non-natives. What I found out is that there isnt anyone to do this. I know Stace would want me to do that because when we prayed together he always included those that were sick and didnt have a fighting chance. I could go on and on about my brother and how people loved him wherever he went. I will always talk about him and most of all my goal is to be like him. We love you Stace and we miss you so much. We know you are with the Grandmas and Grandpas in the spirit world though and that one day you will welcome us when our time comes. In the meantime the way you lived your life will inspire us every single day.
