For 50 years, Vancouver Co-op Radio (CFRO 100.5 FM) has been a driving force of independent media, amplifying the voices of those too often unheard in mainstream media. Since 1975, we've been a home for artists, activists, independent journalists, and storytellers, delivering 140 hours of original programming each week in over 10 languages. Now, we need your help to celebrate this milestone and ensure our legacy continues!

Support Our 50th-Anniversary Celebration & Live Broadcast Event – In Partnership with CRES

This April 2025, we’re throwing a 50th-anniversary celebration and live broadcast event to honour our rich history and the incredible community that has made it all possible. The event will feature live music performances from local artists, reflecting the diversity and talent that Co-op Radio has championed for decades. However, we didn’t receive the grant funding we had hoped for to pay these artists—and we believe strongly that artists deserve to be compensated for their work.

That’s why we’re turning to you, our community, to help us raise the funds needed to pay the incredible musicians performing at our event. If we raise more than needed, the remaining funds will go towards our Spring Marathon Fundraising Drive beginning in April, ensuring continued support for independent, community-driven radio.

This fundraising effort is being conducted through the Community Radio Education Society (CRES), the partner charitable organization that supports Co-op Radio. Like Co-op Radio, CRES is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year! Funds raised through this campaign will go directly to CRES, which will administer payments to the artists and support this historic event. Our goal is to raise $6000 to ensure that every performer is fairly compensated for their time and talent.
