For two and half decades Clara Marens, p/k/a as “Ceevox” has brought love, joy, and amazing music to masses on the dancefloor through her beautiful gift of voice.  As friend, loving family member,  musical collaborator, advocate for the LGBTQ community and women’s rights, Clara has always put others first.  Now, it is our turn to support Ceevox on her journey back to health.

It comes with great humility that I reach out to my friends, family, and loyal fans for help to improve my health. I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

After being involved in two horrific car accidents, I have struggled to lose weight after the injuries I have sustained. I have been in great pain, unable to work out due to limited mobility, and continue to gain more weight. I have attempted numerous diet and lifestyle changes – all of which provided a short-term solution, yet eventually resulting in failure leaving me mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted. I have come to the realization I cannot achieve any long-term success and regain my health, alone.

Through soul-searching, research, consultation with medical professionals, support of my family & friends, and upon the strong recommendation of my personal physician, I have decided to undergo gastric sleeve surgery. This surgery, along with the after-care consisting of nutritional guidance, counseling, and fitness management, will provide valuable tools for me to regain control of my health. I’m confident I will gain strength and the ability to maintain a healthier lifestyle. This initial part of the journey has made me recognize that I do have the power to reshape my future. 

The excess weight has taken a severe toll on my health and well-being – the effects have been devastating: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, lymphedema, depression and borderline diabetes. Bariatric surgery is a powerful tool that has been shown to reduce or even eliminate dangerous medical conditions over time. The consequences of those co-morbidities have made me incur great medical expense; ranging from multiple doctor visits, hospitalizations, to a myriad of medications. Any savings I did have, is now depleted.  Unfortunately, my health insurance does not cover bariatric procedures – even ones deemed medically necessary! I look at this as one of the many upcoming challenges that I will face and conquer in my fight back to health. The physical pain and mental strain have been excruciating; prohibiting me from performing on stage, walking my dog and impacting my overall quality of life.  

So many of you are already supporting me through kind words and positive vibes. I am so grateful for all of you. I am asking everyone that I know to partner with me financially and/or share my story. I am willing to put the work in and be as transparent through my journey as possible. No donation is too small. All funds will be going directly to the cost of the surgery.
