A community legacy to remember Cédric Monvoisin

Donation protected
Many thanks for all of the donations received to date. In 48 hours we have exceeded the initial target which is a real testament to everyone’s appreciation of Ced.
We’ll keep the campaign open to expand the tree planting scheme beyond the initial proposal, in Cédric’s memory.
Thanks again for the support.

Cédric Monvoisin
, a resident of Thornton Heath and active member of THCAT (Thornton Heath Community Action Team), sadly passed away on 6th November 2020 at Croydon University Hospital following a short illness.

Covid restrictions meant that his funeral in France was a small affair, and no service could be held in the UK. So, in order to celebrate Cédric's life and to create a legacy that reflects his love of the area and his commitment to community activities, his partner Craig is working with THCAT to enhance the local community with a series of planters and an avenue of trees in Brook Road, Thornton Heath, in his name.  It is envisaged that the planters will be created in the spring of 2021 with the trees to be planted later in the year.

Cédric had investigated initiating local tree planting before falling ill. The plan is for the planters and trees to bear a memorial plaque with Cédric's name to help his memory live on in the community.

We understand that the approximate cost per tree will be £500, including surveying and tree pit creation. The target is to plant at least 10 trees along Brook Road. All funds collected will be passed to the THCAT committee in order to initiate the tree planting in the new year. If we exceed the target we will be able to increase the number of trees.

A native of France but resident of Thornton Heath since 2006, Cédric made a home amongst his community and was very active in local initiatives. As a member of THCAT, he worked with residents and local Councillors to resolve issues affecting the community. In particular, he was involved in the creation of the one-way system in Brook Road, and as street representative, helped to maintain the local planter and led the development of a beautiful street mural, creating a legacy for the neighbourhood. Now, we'd like to create another in his name.

Thank you for your support in creating this legacy to a much-loved, kind and generous individual who brought warmth to the lives of so many people.

Please feel free to share this fundraiser on social media.
