Cecily M. Needs Your Support

Donation protected

I hope this message finds you healthy and in good spirits.  My name is Paula Wells and I'm reaching out to you because we may have Cecily Murray as a mutual friend, and I wanted to share her story with you.

Cecily graduated from Northwestern University in 1997 and began her career with Hewitt and Associates.  She relocated to San Diego, CA to escape the pain of three huge losses in her life.  Cecily, an only child, lost her mother during our Junior year in college and both grandparents after graduation.   These people were her support and her only family.

Cecily fell on hard times after losing her job about 7 or 8 years ago.  Unfortunately, those hard times escalated and she became homeless.  She has been in and out of shelters and transitional housing for years.  Though I and other friends have supported her through the years with donations here and there, her circumstances have not improved. Without a permanent address, life can be one disappointment after another.  I jumped on a flight and set out on a mission to find her in 2015.  Though I found her, she was a shell of her former self and refused offers of help mainly because she didn’t want to be a burden.  She has never asked for help.  I’ve decided that I will no longer sit back and watch her suffer without at least attempting to help on a bigger scale.  If you know Cecily, she has been supportive to many of us.  She was a bright shining light and a great big ball of energy.  That light has dimmed and her smile forced. She has spent several years on the street with no end in sight and I am compelled to help our sister reclaim her life.  I hope you find it in your heart to help as well.

To help Cecily with rent and expenses for one year, I have created a gofundme account .  This assistance will give her the stability.  she needs to fight to get her life back.   Because Cecily logs in to Facebook and other social media platforms from time to time, I am asking that this fundraising campaign be shared via messenger, email and text only.  All proceeds will go to Cecily.

If you could support my GoFundMe by making a donation and then sharing it with your network, I would greatly appreciate it. I know that money is tight during this pandemic, so please know that even $5 helps Cecily get one step closer to finding housing and a new lease on life.  Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to answer them.
