They lost everything. Cecilia and Gustavo Aperador were rescued by boat at around 2am on Sunday, August 27th, 2017 by some very kind neighbors and family friends.
Everything is destroyed: home, cars, clothes, heirlooms, and necessities. Not only did Cecilia and Gustavo lose all of their personal belongings, but the uncertainty of when they will be able to return to work is also a burden as both of their jobs have also been affected by the flooding.
Anyone that knows my mother, Cecilia, knows that there is not a more selfless woman around. As the water began to rise in their home, she started to pack an emergency bag. When I asked her what she packed she told me she packed her shoes, accessories, and box of hair dye to be ready for my wedding on Saturday (her dress is at the alterations shop)! As many of our friends and relatives already know, my fiancee, Chris, and I have postponed our wedding that was going to take place on 9/2/17 here in Houston in order to focus on helping them during this difficult time.
This campaign is set up to provide financial support to help Cecilia and Gustavo rebuild their lives and allow those who may want to directly help a family in need! All funds will be distributed to them, first to buy basic necessities such as clothes, followed by purchasing supplies to begin the clean-up and tear down of walls to finally begin the rebuilding process. No donation is too small!
