Program Description: "This program will take students to a part of the world where Nazi Germany carried out the "final solution to the Jewish question" under the cover of World War II. Poland was home to some three and half million Jews, 90% of whom died in the Holocaust. Another two million Jews from every corner of Europe were transported to their deaths at extermination centers such as Auschwitz, Treblinka, Chelmno and Belzec - four places that this program will visit in Poland. In Krakow, Warsaw and Bialystok, the students will tour the old Jewish neighborhoods and visit museums, synagogues, and church- es in the "old town" of each city. In the evenings, the students will meet with Polish university students. The program will move to Berlin, Germany, where the program will visit the new Jewish Museum, the Museum to the Murdered Jews of Europe, and other German-Jewish sites that illuminate the history of a once-thriving people decimated under a ban- ner of hatred in the heart of civilized Europe. At every stop, the program will investigate how the Holocaust is remem- bered and forgotten, and how the younger generations of Poles and Germans come to grips with an unspeakable past."
I am so grateful for this interesting and educational opportunity!
