CDMC Mutual Aid Fund

Donation protected
To help our community make ends meet in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dyke March Chicago is launching an Emergency Mutual Aid Fund for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) who live in Chicago and are financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, we will be are prioritizing queer, trans, intersex, disabled, and undocumented BIPOC when dispersing the funds.

To kick off the first round of our Emergency Mutual Aid Fund, Dyke March is releasing $4,000 of our own funds that were originally budgeted for programming and permits for our annual March. $3,000 of those funds will go to individuals and $1,000 will go to organizations.

We recognize that the need is immeasurable and we would like to be able to provide support to as many community members as possible. In order to fund future rounds of the Emergency Mutual Aid Fund, we are opening up this GoFundMe to raise money to redistribute.

All money collected in this GoFundMe will go directly into the Emergency Mutual Aid Fund and will be redistributed to community members and organizations in need.

We want to take a moment to express our gratitude to Ijeoma Oluo and Amita Swadhin and comrades who launched this GoFundMe campaign/mutual aid effort on March 14, 2020 and from which we are taking inspiration. Similarly to Amita Swadhin and co we are choosing for this Fund to benefit QTI-BIPOC as we recognize that, “we often have less ties to familial support networks, we have historically been simultaneously overlooked and surveilled by welfare state systems, our needs have been surplus to mainstream political formations and we tend to work in the gig economy.” Furthermore, we will be giving higher priority to those who are undocumented and disabled as we recognize that current (and historic) government responses to this pandemic have, once again, failed these communities.

You all have shown us so much love and support in our past fundraising efforts and we hope that we can continue that streak! Thank you, in advance for your donation. If you are not able to donate, we encourage you to share with your networks.
