The widespread community damage has placed a toll on our ability to care for patients in our medical clinic and hospice there. Patients are crowding the clinic with medical problems and skin rashes and great concern about dengue, since there is now a great infestation of mosquitos and fleas. <img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/19094514_1490207865.4672_funddescription.png" alt="" width="100%" /> The roof on the house where our Incarnate Word Missionaries live has been leaking “like a great colander,” reports Missionary Anne Catherine Mora, who is from San Antonio and now is living in Chimbote with four other IW missionaries. Pushaq Warmi, the business collective supported by our ministry Women’s Global Connection, is facing damage of homes, schools and difficulties getting the resources their families need. <img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/19094514_1490207842.4722_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /> Our CCVI sisters in Peru report that all roads in and out of Chimbote are cut off because of widespread flooding and damage to bridges and streets. The town only has intermittent electricity. Communication is compromised with no newspapers being printed. Food and water now are in short supply, with costs for staples tripling in Chimbote because of the problems. <img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/19094514_1490207909.7235_funddescription.png" alt="" width="100%" /> In Peru over all at least eight hospitals have been destroyed by flooding and 16 others are uninhabitable, creating a dangerous situation for those injured during the recent historic flooding.
