Hello, I am fundraising again. This time it's for a research trip with Ecology Project International to Hawaii! This trip focuses on island and marine ecology and conservation. As some of you know, I am in the middle of getting my Masters in Secondary Biology Teaching. I am also working towards an Environmental Education Endorsement. This endorsement provides teachers with the skills to be a leader in environmental education in the classroom. This is something I care very deeply about and I hope to pass my love for the environment on to my students. This trip counts for one class (International Environmental Service Learning) toward my endorsement and towards my master's degree. I have completed Ecology for Teachers this past summer, which went toward this endorsement as well. If I complete my research and coursework on this trip, I will only have two more classes to go for my endorsement! I am hoping to graduate with my Masters degree December 2018.
This is a 9-day trip. We will be learning about the island ecosystem through hands-on research. We will be addressing critical conservation issues. We will do reef fish surveys, monitor water quality, and help to restore a historic village. We will also be visiting Maui's volcanic birthplace.
The total cost of the trip is $3,665. This includes everything! Airfare, food, tuition for 3 credit hours, research equipment, camping equipment, transportation while on the island, etc. Yes, we will be camping on the beach for the duration of this trip.
$250 deposit is due by October 31st, 2017. CHECK!
$750 tuition deposit is due January 4th, 2017.
$2,665 final payment is due March 25th, 2018.
Depart for HI May 25th, 2018.
We will be doing some fundraising as a group but it won't be quite enough to cover everything. Please help me reach my goal to better my education, in turn bettering my students' education!
