TEAM KYLE vs Burkitts Lymphoma

Donation protected
After only a few days of feeling ill, which including vomiting, no appetite and not being able to breathe, Kyle was referred to MD Anderson’s ER by his primary care physician. Within 48 hours, Kyle was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer called Burkitt’s Lymphoma.

Doctors drained 1.5 liters of fluid from one of his lungs, which improved his breathing greatly. They also have been treating his uric acid level daily with medication as this level was dangerously high and can lead to complications with the treatments Kyle needs. After taking biopsies of his bone marrow, his spinal fluid, and a large tumor growing in his abdomen, Kyle’s doctors have cleared his bone marrow and spinal cord of lymphoma, but a PET scan showed that his entire chest cavity and abdomen (except for his heart and lungs) have been taken over by Burkitt’s Lymphoma. He underwent his first chemotherapy treatment within those initial 48 hours at MD Anderson and before he was properly diagnosed.

The good news: Kyle was given an 84%, or greater cure stat by his doctors at MD Anderson. He made it through round one of chemo like the champ he is and is cleared for round two on July 31st.

As aggressive as this cancer is, Kyle’s doctors are fighting it just as aggressively! A second PET scan this week will determine how the Burkitt’s Lymphoma was affected by the first round of chemotherapy. We will have a clearer picture of his treatment plan then.

The goal of TEAM KYLE is to raise funds to keep up with insurance payments, medications, getting Kyle to and from treatments once he’s (hopefully) able to leave MD Anderson, keep him both fed and cared for, and anything else that may come as this disease is treated. We hope you’ll join our team!

With your support, Kyle will beat this disease! You are appreciated by our family who has been by his side as this has unfolded. Having even more cheerleaders in his corner will undoubtedly keep Kyle’s spirits up as he continues to under go treatment and deal with this awful disease that no one should ever have to endure. He's got a while to go before heading back to high school for his junior year and continuing to excel as he has over the past year. Until then, with your help, we will keep him optimistic that that day is in his near future.

THANK YOU for your love, hope, prayers and support!

One last thing… Anyone who knows Kyle knows that he is a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan! Another way you can to help support Kyle through this fight is with a Dallas Cowboys inspired TEAM KYLE shirt! Shirts are available for order at https://www.bonfirefunds.com/team-kyle. The family asks if you do sport this tee to please send us a photo of yourself. We will be sharing those photos with Kyle as well as the rest of TEAM KYLE. It’s time to cheer on our favorite 16 year old as he beats this disease. GO TEAM KYLE!
