Deadly Kitten Virus Fund

Our Kitties Are Really Sick!

The Lakewood Animal Shelter and our community have been dealing with an influx of kittens that are infected with the Panleukopenia virus. The symptoms of panleukopenia can be similar to those seen in dogs with parvo  (fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and seizures).  Panleukopenia in young unvaccinated kittens is usually fatal.

But the Citizens Committee for the Lakewood Animal Shelter (CCLAS) , a 501 (C)3 non-profit group dedicated to the health and well-being of the animals in our community,  has been trying to treat several litters of these infected kittens at the local animal hospital. We want to give them a fighting chance at survivial.

Caught early and with aggressive treatment, some of these kitties are strong and are surviving this horrible illness.

But these treatments are expensive and we are being overwhelmed by these expenses. This little orange kitten pictured above is one of many we are treating. (His brother,  unofortunately,  didn't make it.)  This little guy is currently in the hospital receiveing treatment, along with another litter.

Our hospital bill for all of these pan leuk infected kitties is currently at $2,879 and climbing. Please consider a donation to help these small kittens so we can continue to give these kittens not only a chance for survival, but comfort and care as they fight this terrible illness.

Any donation amount is so appreciated, as we only operate on donations and recevie no government funding. Our coffers have been depleted and we want to continue to care for all of the the sick kittens that come into the shelter. Please help us do so!

Thank you so much on behelf of CCLAS and the kittens.
