Many of y'all are aware of Dad / PawPaw's ongoing health difficulties after his double lung transplant 4 years ago. This picture was just months before his transplant. 
Specialists have called him a miracle, being a 1 in a million special case. Well, with "special" comes lots of extra trips back & forth to Methodist Hospital in Houston for continued testing & treatments & procedures & guesswork for the doctors.
This week adds a new road on their journey. Dad is undergoing at least a week of outpatient testing at MD Anderson in Houston, mostly to determine whether chemotherapy or radiation is the best course of action for his aggressive squamous cell cancer.
There's no way we could tell his whole story here, but hopefully one day Mom / MawMaw will write that book ;) It's a good one - full of stories of God's faithfulness, grace, & provision. And if you know Dad & Mom, you know God continues to use them for His glory & giving them just enough strength along the way. They're also giving & selfless & would feel uncomfortable at the thought of being recipients of a GoFundMe page. (That's why they don't even know yet that we're setting one up.)
But the reality is that 4 years of trips to Houston & hospital bills & medications & hotel rooms add up to more digits & commas than any of us would ever want to see. Having a little relief with the bills would be one less thing to worry about while he undergoes new tests daily, & they wait for results & consults to find out what is next!
