Art-A-LIFT! Lift and Programming
Since 2003, the vision for Chestnut Center for the Arts is to provide programming for ALL to enjoy.
Converting a historic building into a vibrant, lively and welcoming arts center has now reached a milestone. The center has estimates for the installation of a vertical
lift platform from Arrow Lift with a cost of $58,000.
Additional accessibility construction needs include an exterior ramp, sidewalk and retaining wall and automatic doors bringing our fundraising goal to $100,000. We"ve already accomplished raising over $51,000!
You've likely enjoyed many different events in the second level of our facility. Maybe it was tea with friends, concerts or recitals from local students, community musicians or world-class touring acts. Perhaps you've discovered new skills with a paint or clay class, admired work in our gallery or finished your holiday shopping at our annual Holiday Showcase. Sadly, some in our community haven’t been able to do the same because of mobility limitations.
You can help The Chestnut Center for the Arts increase accessibility for our patrons, especially wheelchair-bound individuals, the elderly, as well as families with small children and strollers.
This project will also lessen the burden on artists, instructors and caterers renting, working and teaching at the facility. Artists and instructors will be able to offer more and different performances and courses. With a lift, they can utilize equipment and supplies that have been too heavy or cumbersome to bring up the very steep steps. The Chestnut Center also rents the facility for meetings, weddings and parties and have faced obstacles hiring caterers because of the constrains of carrying their equipment and food to the upstairs gallery, performance hall, fireplace room and studios.
We strive to provide access and enjoyment to affordable visual and performing arts as well as classes, lectures and other special events to all ages of the community that contribute to the quality of life. We know ease of access to the facility is important, especially with 20 percent of the City of Marshfield’s population at 60-years-old or older and many retirement housing complexes in the community.
Please consider leading the way with a contribution towards a lift and supporting creative programming!
