Deaf and hard of hearing

Hello, My name is Kelly and I am a Grade 10 student in an ASL (American sign language) class with my amazing two amazing teachers and  a pure tutor. Through out this year I’ve really been finding a very strong connection with the deaf and hard of hearing community. I’ve always wanted to help people but I never knew how. I started off with child care and volunteered at numerous retirement homes but I just wasn’t feeling the connection, of course I enjoyed myself and I’ve always been a caretaker but I wanted to do more with myself. Early on in my ASL course I realized this is what I want to do. I’ve had plenty of talks with my teachers and I’ve met this amazing young lady who is deaf and has a cochlear implant, some of which are extremely expensive. They range from 30,000-50,000 and that’s without insurance. My birthday is coming up soon and I feel like instead of reviving I’d love to give. I want to give children the chance to hear for the very first time. I want children to feel the excitement of being able to hear what people are saying around them and hear what they sound like. Hear what there moms and dads sounds like. It makes me happy to see others with a smile so big they light up a whole room. So that’s why I want to raise money to give another child a chance of hearing. And if you’d help me I would be forever grateful.
