CC Bloom: Elastic Hair Tie Thief

Donation protected

CC Bloom has been stealthily stealing and ingesting my elastic hair ties for anywhere up to 3.5 years.  I had no idea this was happening until the morning of December 8, 2020 when I was alarmed to find CC, who never vomits, doing just that every few minutes for two hours.

I rushed CC Bloom to the vet where an x-ray confirmed that something was obstructing her stomach.  CC was then chauffeured to a different veterinary hospital that specializes in emergency surgery.  A few hours later, the surgeon called me as I was waiting patiently outside the hospital in my car (thanks, COVID!) and said he removed what looked like an "egg-sized ball of rubber bands".  I gasped, knowing right away that the rubber bands  were my elastic hair ties.  I knew that CC liked playing with the hair ties but I had never seen CC eat one, let alone dozens!

The surgery was a success and I picked up CC Bloom from the veterinary hospital the next afternoon, along with a souvenir; a 6" wad of long-lost elastic hair ties.

I am so happy to have my sweet baby home, and CC's three cat siblings missed her very much (I think?)  I will make sure to never, ever leave these ponytail holders in CC's reach ever again!

While I am so relieved CC's surgery was a success and she's going to a-ok, I am not thrilled with the $3000 vet bill.  You see, I am a social work graduate student and I already work as much as I can to makes ends meet for myself and my cat crew.  Any little donation would help and is beyond appreciated.

Love, CC Bloom and her mom, Amanda
