Hello friends!
Our lovely friend and sister Sharonda Simmons will be having surgery on January 9, 2020. Sharonda has been suffering over the last 3+ years with exacerbated reproductive health symptoms and abnormalities without many answers as to why. After consulting with a few medical teams, she has discovered that she has several fibroid tumors, some the size of tennis balls. To help address the pain and bleeding, she has been to many doctor’s appointments and received a lot of opinions and second opinions. Over the last few months, she's been given an aggressive amount of hormones to regulate the fibroids, which has caused her hair to thin and mood swings amidst other side effects.
As an answered prayer, Sharonda has discovered a doctor at UofM Health System who can operate to remove the larger fibroids, unlike several doctors who have suggested much more invasive, potentially damaging methods. We're so grateful to God that she will be able to have this surgery and take time off of work; however, we’re saddened to learn that her job does not provide short term disability. They are willing to be flexible with scheduling, but will be unable to financially support/assist Sharonda during the 6 weeks of recovery required after this invasive procedure.
We are reaching out to you to help us raise funds to help support Sharonda during this time. We recognize that this is coming to you around the holidays, but we’d really love to shower Sharonda in the support and love that we know she’d give to us in a time of need. Whatever you can give to this cause will assist during her recovery time. Also, during this time please try to be mindful of the space and/or assistance Sharonda might need.
