CB Rescue needs help to save 4+ Dominican dogs!

Donation protected
[UPDATE: Thank you SO much to all who donated! As animal rescue happens year-round for all of us, any additional donations will be much appreciated and used for providing more help that is desperately needed to our partnered rescues (especially with emergency cases), as well as covering food and vet bills for our current and future rescues.]

CB Rescue Foundation is a small foster based, non-profit organization in Calgary, Alberta helping dogs both locally and internationally. We are partnered with Collares Rojos in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic, and are working together to try and reduce the serious over-population and spread of preventable diseases in the region.

We are in serious need of funds for transporting and providing care for 4 dogs that will be coming from the Dominican back to Canada with Belinda Morrison, the founder of CB Rescue at the end of February 2020. We are hoping to reach our fundraising goal at the same time, or at least in the first few weeks of March!

We are also planning to use at least $500 of our raised funds to help two local shelters with food, a roof for the dogs, and vet bills for a few recent recently found rescues who require urgent care. If we get past our goal, we could provide them with even more help!

[ WHO ARE THESE DOGS? ]
Oliver is about 2 years old. Living in deplorable conditions, he was found and saved by Collares Rojos a few months ago. Now, he is healthy and is ready to move to Canada and find a loving family that will never put him in this kind of situation again.

Nano and Kiwi are brother and sister that were found in a garbage can!!! They grew up to be beautiful and strong sweethearts, now 8 months old. (Colin Morrison, one of the CB Rescue founders, is pictured holding Nano a few weeks after he was found).

Caracchio was abandoned by his family when he was 10 because of age, and has been at Collares Rojos for several years without anyone expressing interest in adoption. We want to provide Caracchio a loving hospice home, so he can be loved and comfortable in his old age.

[ WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? ]
Dogs love unconditionally, and we believe that every dog deserves to be loved in return, and belong to a forever family. We want to help dogs in need despite their geographical location, and provide a sanctuary for dogs that may be difficult to place.

There are over a million stray animals in the Dominican Republic, with many others living in awful conditions. This overwhelming number makes it very hard to find homes for many rescues.

Bringing dogs back with us to Canada means that Collares Rojos will be able to spend their funds to help spay/neuter and vaccinate more stray animals (reducing new births and spread of disease), and help dogs in dire medical need.

[ HOW WILL THE MONEY BE SPENT? ]
- Flying the dogs will be about $200 x 4
- Cost of transporting the crates to DR, estimated about $200-400 altogether
- Food, microchips and other necessities upon arrival will be about $100 each, with more for senior dog Caracchio due to likely medical bills (please note that all dogs we transport are spayed/neutered, checked and vaccinated against transmittable diseases)
- Helping Collares Rojos and another small dog shelter run by Patricia (where we helped hold a spay and neuter clinic) with some of the food and medical expenses of the many animals in their care, so they can continue helping their current dogs and future emergency intakes
- Providing the money Patricia needs to build a roof for the dogs in her shelter ($150)

[ WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP ]
We are a small rescue who has helped 250+ dogs find homes in the last few years, but we are struggling to keep this up despite our overwhelming desire to continue helping as many dogs as possible.

Our recurring monthly donations only just reached $200 a month, and all other funds primarily come from fundraising events. A significant portion of the costs is covered by the founders, so additional donation go a long way in helping us save more dogs! As our organization is volunteer-only, we don't use our donations for anything except directly helping current and future dogs!

[ WHO ARE WE? ]
CB Rescue Foundation was founded by Colin and Belinda Morrison in 2017. We partner with other reputable rescues working as a team for the greater good of the dogs, specializing in helping dogs that are in danger of abuse or neglect. We are dedicated to rescuing any dogs in distress no matter the location, age, breed, or ease of placement.

We have a very thorough foster check and adoption process, and continue communicating with all of our adopters. We always want to make sure our rescues are set up to succeed in their homes!

Collares Rojos was founded by Yanela over a decade ago, and has been one of our closest partner rescues. She and her volunteers have helped thousands of dogs in DR with food, shelter and medical care. They have annual spay and neuter events, vaccinate stray animals, and do everything they can to improve conditions for as many animals as they can.
