Introduction:
Cayla is by nature a caregiver and has spent her entire adult life caring for others, especially little children. Recently Cayla was diagnosed with Severe Depressive Disorder and now needs some intensive love and support from us.
We are her family: her Father, Mother, Sisters, and Brothers-in-law. We are reaching out to ask you to help us get Cayla the treatment she needs to recover!
The Backstory:
While working as an au pair in France in the fall of 2017, Cayla began to steadily decline into a deep depression. Upon the advice of her therapist, she returned to the US for testing and a psychiatric evaluation and was diagnosed with Severe Depressive Disorder. Shortly after returning, her condition became so acute that it was necessary for us to have Cayla hospitalized.
Thankfully, the excellent care she received plus a change in medication stabilized her, but she’s not out of the woods yet. She needs further treatment at a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
How to Help Cayla:
She needs to begin daily treatment in a PHP and after much research we have found a great treatment facility that meets her needs. Lifeskills South Florida comes highly recommended and we are convinced that this facility is the best fit for Cayla. Unfortunately, Lifeskills is not covered by her insurance.
Cost Breakdown:
Lifeskills is a full-time five day a week program:
->The daily cost is $425.00
->Treatment is 5 days/week for 12 weeks
->Total Needed for 12 weeks = $25,500
-> Our GoFundMe goal is $26,000*
->100% of the funds raised will go toward Cayla’s treatment. Her daily living expenses will not come out of this fund.
->Any funds raised beyond our goal will go toward medical costs Cayla has apart from her treatment such as medications, ongoing appointments with her personal therapist, and maintenance appointments with her personal psychiatrist
*I've adjusted the amount based on the fee GoFundMe charges in order to provide their excellent service.
Withdrawal Plan:
All funds raised throught the GoFundMe platform will be withdrawn by myself into the joint bank account that I share with my wife. We will then pay Lifeskills directly on Cayla's behalf.
Why Go Out-of-Network?
There are three reasons why we believe the best care for Cayla exists outside her insurance network:
1) All of her insurance’s in-network facilities work primarily with patients struggling with substance abuse. Substance abuse is not an issue for Cayla and since Lifeskills works primarily with mental illness patients this facility will maximize Cayla’s ability to get well.
2) Lifeskills will actively collaborate with Cayla’s existing therapist and psychiatrist to ensure continuity. This continuity of care will provide the help and healing she so desperately needs and desires.
3) Lifeskills also specializes in the specific type of therapy Cayla has already been receiving! FYI: It is called Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and is considered one of the most effective forms of therapy.
