Help my SUPERHERO get SUPER HEARING!
My Superhero Connor, age 5, has been recently diagnosed with a sensorineural hearing loss in both ears. He was not born with a hearing loss, nor did he have one at his 4 year checkup. This was all discovered during a screen at his Kindergarten physical in early July 2014.
A sensorineural loss can be due to many diffrerent things, including genetics. Connor has a moderate/severe loss in his left ear and a mild loss in his right. At this time, after going to many doctors, audiologists, and doing research- we have decided that Connor will be fitted for a hearing aid for his left ear only. In the future he will probably need one for his right ear. Continuous testing will be done to see if further loss occurs or if it maintains. This is not "cureable" or "fixable".
Are you aware that in the state of Indiana, hearing aids are NOT covered by insurance!! Most of the states in the US are the same way!! Hearing Aids, earmolds, specialist visits, audiologists, etc. are things that will be part of our everyday life from here on out. This is just a start to what he will need. The funds donated will be placed In a fund for current and future needs. We are learning more and more everyday so we can do what is best for our SUPERHERO!
