CATOE Oriental Console Restoration Fundraiser

Tax deductible
The Chicago Area Theatre Organ Enthusiasts, CATOE, is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is deeply committed to the public’s understanding and appreciation of the unique art form and historical value of theatre organs in the greater Chicagoland area. We do this through performances, educational efforts, and work to preserve and showcase these remarkable instruments.

In July of 2023, we are hosting the 65th annual American Theatre Organ Society (ATOS) convention. This yearly event attracts theatre organ and music lovers from all over the United States and other countries to see and hear these magnificent instruments.

Our goal is to complete the restoration of the 4 manual Wurlitzer console from the Oriental Theatre in Chicago. It will be the featured instrument at the 4th of July celebration during the convention using digital theatre organ samples for the concert. It will also be used for open console and teaching seminars.

Completing the restoration and having the console used again would be a fitting tribute to the memory of longtime CATOE member Bob Boin who recently passed away. Bob painstakingly restored the top of the damaged console by hand.

After the convention, the console will be available for other events and educational opportunities throughout the Chicagoland area. It would encourage more young people to get involved with theatre pipe organs.

Your tax-deductible donation of any amount is welcome. We greatly appreciate your help in our restoration efforts.
