At the CAT BEACH PENANG SANCTUARY, cat lovers have made a special home to care for cats rescued from desperate life-or-death situations where our all-volunteer team gives them the most loving care we can.
And Cat Beach is more than a shelter. It is fast becoming an Educational Centre with visiting students from area schools and universities. Journalists have now declared it a Tourist Attraction as well with visitors coming from around the world to spend time with cats at the beach.
What started as a simple idea to create a home for about 100 cats that had nowhere else to go has grown exponentially. The demand is huge. As Cat Beach Penang becomes better known, more cats arrive. Now we are caring for nearly 300 cats! Cat Beach Cats need your support!
Your support means the world to these cats -- with your help, we can have healthy, happy, vaccinated, sterilized, friendly and truly adoptable cats.
The initiatives:
1) GOOD NUTRITION - top priority is to give the cats good food and supplements to build strong immune systems
2) BASIC HEALTH CARE including deflea and deworm treatments.
3) VACCINATION
4) STERILIZATION
5) EMERGENCY HEALTH CARE as needed
6) ADOPTION!
OUR STORY:
In a rural Malay fishing village, local fishermen have cared for cats for the past decade or more. Meanwhile in the sophisticated city of George Town, just an hour away, homeless cats are found by caring rescuers every day in the ditches and drains, markets, restaurants or simply dumped on the street. A "Zero Strays" policy went into effect in July 2014 for Penang which gives special urgency for the establishment of a 'no kill' Cat Sanctuary -- as there is literally no place for them to go except a few caring homes.
That's why we have set up a sanctuary in the fishing village. To start, we provided for 100 cats but the demand has been astonishing with new cats arriving almost every day. Now there are nearly 300 cats!
Please give as generously as you can to help this nonprofit maintain and improve the cat sanctuary. Currently this is an all-volunteer group and funding is coming from a small group of caring cat lovers.
With your help we will be able to improve the lives of cats locally and support you and other cat lovers internationally!
Please do plan to come to visit the Cat Beach and all the wonderful cats someday soon. You can come for a day visit or stay on as a volunteer (we can provide housing and possibly other compensations).
