Dear Friends and Family,
As most of you already know I have been struggling with medical issues since 2006. At the age of 11 I was first diagnosed with a pseudotumor in the orbit of my eye. After high doses of steroids, they were able to shrink it. In 2011, I started showing new symptoms. It felt like my whole body was shutting down on me. I was in chronic pain and so exhausted I couldn’t do simple tasks like walk up the stairs or make it to school. We spent years going to specialists to figure out what was wrong with me. We got the same answer every time, “I don’t know.” In 2012, I was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure but again they couldn’t figure out why. My kidneys were functioning at 40% at the age of 18. In 2013, we got our answer. I was diagnosed with Wegener's and received chemotherapy as treatment. Wegener’s is a type of vasculitis that attacks all your organs. In 2015 my kidneys were functioning at 6% and I was going into congestive heart failure. I finally received a kidney transplant. Although my kidney is stable for now, I still struggle with fatigue and chronic pain daily. I see various specialists to help manage my disease. I still get flares and each time I do go out of remission it attacks something else in my body. Wegener’s is a lifelong battle. So far Wegener's has affected my kidneys, sinuses, nerves, and vision. At this point we are unable to keep up with all the expenses my disease comes with. This page is our hope that we will receive some help with medical expenses and bills. Anything you can offer is greatly appreciated.
