Hike to Beat Cancer Would you walk 2,185 miles? Would you do it for life, for love? Would you do it for friendship? Would you do it to find inner peace? Would you do it for the challenge? Would you do it for someone else, or better yet everyone else? I am going to do it for all these reasons. I am doing it because I love a good fight. I am doing it because I want to make a difference. I want to help people who are suffering. I am doing it for the toll it takes on those who have it and for those who live with someone they love who has it. Everyone knows someone with it. The big C…Cancer. That mind boggling opponent that always seems to find a way to win. Little children fighting when they should be playing. Husbands fighting for their wives. Parents fighting for their children. Children fighting for their parents. People fighting for people. Strangers fighting for strangers. The fight of your life. Everyone knows the word. Everyone fears the diagnosis. Everyone has been affected by this disease in some way. Everyone knows someone with it. Everyone knows someone who has it, died from it, fought with it. The fight is ongoing. The fight is often unfair. There are losers in every fight but I love a good fight. I am going to walk 2,185 miles because that’s how I've chosen to fight this disease. It has hit home too many times. I’ve watched it take loved ones, decimated lives, victimized children. Its evil and it hides in the dark and waits to steal life’s light. I am not waiting for it to steal more. I’m taking the fight to it. Nothing comes easy. Nothing is free. All battles have losses but I have seen victories. I have seen hope. I see people living with it. Starting April 3, 2015 from the top of Mt Springer, GA through 14 states to Mt Katahdin, Maine.
