Cathy's Wheelchair & Transportation

Cathy was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) in the fall of 1992. For over half of her lifetime, she's been fighting this unpredictable and difficult disease.
For years, she's edured many painful surgeries, including a mastectomy following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2012. In 2013 she lost complete usage of her legs and has been confined to a wheelchair since. Over the last few years, she's lost most of her mobility and has been, for the most part, limited to her home in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. Being permanently in a wheelchair has presented many problems including painful pressure sores.
Greg (husband) is Cathy's primary caretaker. Recently retired, he spends his days helping Cathy with transfers, basic daily tasks, hygenie, and sometimes eating. Greg also acts as Cathy's primary mode of transporation and travels with her to all of her weekly therapy and doctor appointments.
Due the lack of funds, and limited insurance coverage, Cathy's current wheelchair is unable to be replaced with an adequate model to asssist with current diganosis. Their handicap accessible vehicle is also aging and unable to accomodate their current needs and will need to be replaced.
Purchasing this wheelchair will allow her to relieve the pressure sores caused by always being seated, and in her words, 'allow her to give real hugs again.' The wheelchair and vehicle will make daily tasks much easier on Greg, and reduce stress. A new(er) vehicle will also make it much more possible for Cathy and Greg to visit their grandchildren and other family members.
Cathy is 58 years old, and has been married to Greg for 37 years. She has 3 children (Jesse, Amanda, Kyle), and 6 grandchildren.
