Please help me save Kuri-chan!
Hi friends. I’m Suzanne, and this is my best friend Kuri-chan. She needs to have her front right leg amputated to save her life. I believe her life is worth saving. Kindly hear me out.
Kuri-chan is from Japan, where I lived for 13 years. When I moved to an old house in the countryside, a one-month-old scared little Kuri showed up after getting lost in a typhoon that ripped ripe chestnuts from the trees. So, Kuri is Japanese for “chestnut.” 栗
From that point on, we were always together.
Kuri is incredibly smart and kind. She learns to master her environment quickly. Wherever I go, she goes; she's always ready to go.
We’ve had many adventures.
She’s been to Shinjuku and Yoyogi in Tokyo. We worked a ski season in the mountains of Niigata and slept in the gear room together.
She’s been on buses, trains, shinkansens, chairlifts, and skis!
She’s been my rock in so many ways.
She’s been with me through typhoons that wrecked our house and several evacuations.
And she’s been on an airplane when we moved to America last year.
After everything we’ve been through, I never imagined we would be in our situation.
In September, she started limping. I felt a small lump under her front right leg and immediately took her to our vet, who referred me to a surgeon.
Her CT scan reveals a large mass from the bone in her front right leg. But her lungs are clear, and he believes he can save her if he amputates her right leg. I’m looking at over 12,000 so far, and have scheduled a surgery on October 12th.
The estimate for the surgery alone is $8000.
The invoices for the diagnosis totaled roughly $5,000 and have been submitted to my pet insurance, which has limits of 5k. :-(
Having just returned to America, I was not prepared for this expense.
Please help me save Kuri-chan. She means the world to me.
Thank you kindly for taking the time to read this.
