In 2015, at the age of 29, our dear friend and co worker Cassi was diagnosed with a skull based tumor and a condition called Pseudotumor Cerebri. Pseudotumor Cerebricauses causes increased pressure in the
skull.

The pressure against the tumor, caused hairline cracks in her skull and what Cassi thought was chronic runny nose, was actually cerebral
spinal fluid leaking from her brain. This left her highly susceptible to meningitis and causing a plethora of other illnesses. Most people with this condition can get a lumbar puncture to help alleviate symptoms,
however, due to a congenital disorder called Arnold chiari
malformation (the based of cerebellum falls too deep into her spine)
She is not a candidate, causing more damage to her brain.

Cassi’s tumor is inoperable and will always be with her. Cassi has had
surgery to implant a shunt in her head to drain the extra the fluid from her brain to the lower half of her body.
Fast forward to 2017, Cassi had another surgery in an attempt to live
without her shunt.

Her symptoms have returned and in 2018 needed a valve replaced to
allow her surgeon to adjust the implant via bedside.

6 weeks after the revision, she has caught a bad case of peritonitis (infl-ammation in the membrane that lines your organs) due to an infection
in the tubing in her shunt.

Cassi is currently hospitalized, out of work, with the shunt externalized while doctors try to kill the infection and figure out the next step. Her
doctors are unsure of the outcome.

If you have ever met Cassi, you would know the light that is inside her
and the warmth she brings to a room. She is one of the strongest women we know, loves working and making everyone around her feel special and beautiful. Also, if you know Cassi, you would know she would never ask for help!

We are reaching out to ask for help and reduce the financial pressures of her multiple surgeries, living expenses and current/future medical
costs.
