Hi, my name is Cassie, and first and foremost I want to thank you for visiting my page. The fact that you have even read the first and now second sentence of this means you have dedicated a moment of your life to my story and I am grateful. I am here to ask for your help in funding my psychiatric service dog, Luna.
My story begins in childhood. Ever since I can remember I have suffered from night terrors. As I have grown into adulthood my struggle with various parasomnia disorders has grown to the point of significantly impacting my physical and mental health as well as my career and personal relationships. Specifically, I suffer from chronic nightmares, night terrors, sleepwalking and sleep paralysis. Throughout the years I have sustained physical injuries while sleep walking and physical side effects from lack of sleep and disrupted sleep. Struggling with this has resulted in me developing an anxiety disorder which adds another layer to my challenges and has begun to impact my daily life. I regularly struggle with panic attacks that impact my ability to be in public, and my ability to function at my place of work. I have worked with various doctors and therapists over the past three years to try and find a successful treatment, but unfortunately the rounds of medication, sleep studies, and specialists have been unsuccessful. I am continuing to take medication and receive treatment for my anxiety disorder and parasomnia disorders, but I, my therapist and my primary physician feel a psychiatric service dog will significantly improve my mental health, physical health and overall well being.
This brings me to the wonderful Luna, my psychiatric service dog, and the reason why I am creating this GoFundMe page. The total cost for Luna is $10,000--this includes her intensive, specialized training, as well as airfare to bring her from Utah to Vermont--and while I am diligently working to save as much as possible, I still need assistance in covering all of the costs associated with acquiring a psychiatric service dog. I am asking for $5,000 in order to help pay for Luna’s expenses and bring her into my life. Please consider making a small donation to help me reach this goal.
