Cassidy Strong

Meet Cassidy Cameron Campbell. She is my cousin and this is her journey. She was born September 27, 2017. Jared and Natalie found out at 20 weeks their dream of having a baby girl join their family of boys had finally come true. The days following, they received the saddening phone call informing them baby was was showing signs of issues with her brain and heart.  They were then referred to UW medical center for further testing.  After further testing, they learned that not only were there issues with her brain and heart but that her organs were on the wrong side of her body and some might be missing. They were now faced with the biggest decision of their life....with only a few short days to make a decision, Natalie continued to feel Cassidy kicking more each day. Natalie felt this was Cassidy sending a strong message "don't give up on me. I'm here. I'm fighting. My name is Cassidy." Jared and Natalie didn't want her to live a life of pain but they didn't want to live without her either. So Cassidy has been fighting for her life since September 27th and what a fighter she is!  She has undergone open heart surgery, 7 brain surgeries and shunt revisions and multiple stomach surgeries. This has not only been a struggle physically for Cassidy but has also taken a tole on the family unit.  Cassidy has been in Seattle Children's Hospital since birth.  Natalie spends Monday through Friday at Cassidy's side while Jared works long hours in the greater Puget Sound area, a different city each day.  Their two young boys (ages 8 and 3) are taken care of by their grandmothers and great grandmother. Each Friday after work, Jared travels to Seattle and spends the weekends with Cassidy and Natalie travels 65+ miles home to spend the weekends with their young boys. Between the cost of fuel, meals, etc. the costs are adding up quickly to say the least.  This family has been constantly concerned and looking out for others in need and have never asked for help during their own tremendous time of need.  Please, help us support this selfless family and this beautiful baby girl Cassidy.
