Cassandra Taylor Food Bank Memorial Fund

First of all, thank you so much for being here and remembering my beautiful mother Cassandra (aka Cassie, Sandy, Grammy) Taylor. She passed on February 24th 2021 from Alzheimer’s disease.  

Mom’s passion was combating food insecurity and she focused that passion in the food pantry at the First United Methodist Church (FUMC) in her hometown of Garden City, Michigan. She was a lifelong member of the church having married my father there in 1967. She organized yearly Vacation Bible School (VBS), Trunk-or-Treat and Crop Walks (which supported the pantry). When supplies were low (especially of much sought after proteins and fresh foods) she stocked the shelves out her own pocket. She never let anyone walk away empty handed. She always made sure that there were extra special treats for the little ones and toiletries for whoever needed them. Even as the grip of Alzheimer’s took tighter hold of moms independence and memory, she still came to offer her assistance. 

The pantry at FUMC has been stretched to the limit during this pandemic and my mom is no longer able to shop to help fill the shelves. Nothing would honor her memory more than to fill those shelves and/or buy necessary storage equipment for fresh foods!!! In lieu of flowers, her family is hoping you'll consider contributing to the food pantry she established and loved so much.

All donations will be given to the FUMC food pantry in her honor.
