Camdyn Bishop Therapy Tuition

Camdyn has a rare form of microcephaly with mutation on her CASK gene. This can cause a wide variety of problems that include: seizure disorders, developmental delays, difficultly with coordination and balance, dwarfism, intellectual disabilities, facial distortions, along with hearing and vision loss. Girls born with a defect on their CASK gene often do not walk, or have extreme difficulty walking, and are often non verbal. They may also develop feeding issues, behavior problems, kidney and heart abnormalities, as well as a host of other things. The severity depends on whether the CASK gene is mutated or deleted all together. With that being said, both are extremely rare disorders. There is no cure, but treatment involves symptom management, therapy, and close monitoring. Dr. Konark Mukherjee, an assistant professor at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute and the leader of perhaps the only research team in the world that explores the role of the CASK gene in neurological disorders. His teams researching has shown that aggressive "burst" therapy helps these patients significantly improve their development. We have recently enrolled in the program in order the obtain the best help for our little girl. She shows so much promise and is a strong willed, determined person. It is a 4 week program in Virginia. Camdyn and I will have to travel and live out of state for a month. Since the program is strictly research, we have to pay out of pocket. The maximum amount the program charges is $21,000. It is unknown the exact price until we complete the program because it depends on the amount of tests and therapy hours we need. Any extra money will be put forth to travel and living for the month and then what's left I will donate to the research institute. We are set to go August of 2019!
